You have read about how facebook idea was hijacked from the original initiator, in this piece, Olanrewaju Olasunkunmi reveals how tribalism selfishness deprived him of the most consistent and celebrated award in Ogun State, ‘EGBA YOUTH AWARDS (EYA)’.

To be candid I have a lot to say about EGBA YOUTH AWARDS (EYA)  but whatever anyone says about me concerning EYA , the first thing I want you to confirm from anybody that has been involved in the AWARD from the first edition since 2009 till date is that,  if I OLANREWAJU OLASUNKANMI has ever had any issue with either the supporters or participants? but the problem I’m having is within the committee which is Tribalism problem.

 I groomed Biola Swagger (Abiola Odetola) and Deji Falowo from OOU, I was the one that trained them in Entertainment majorly. So I do tell them then that there are so many opportunities in Egba Land, because then Deji

was my right-handed man and it was in 2010 that I told Deji that, go to Egba and do something since he was afraid, I told Deji that let’s do feasibility study. when I came into Egba in 2009, I said you know what, to achieve this dream, we need to start from the student, let’s see the response of the students if this could be possible in this land, then we planned MAPOLY GRADUATING STUDENTS AWARD in 2009, that was what really prompted me to bring in Abiodun Gbadebo, then we also discover one of our girls that worked with us when we were in school Yetunde Adeniji.

 There is another lady there too, Osindero Mojisola that just joined us last year, she was not even part of the team last year, she just did an external package for us. I don’t relate with them as boss, I relate with them like my brothers. i called them under a tree at MAPOLY, the thing was between me, Biola and Deji, although it was between Deji and i, we just incorporated Biola when we were coming to Abeokuta because he is from Abeokuta as well and he is working with us, so we carried him along. where the problem came from was when we started to do something in Egba Land.

  As at then, I was the only person that has the registered company, they are all my followers, I brought and trained them, I started the EGBA YOUTH AWARD, and the main motive of the Award was to plan an event that Deji Falowo can continue. That was my vision because Deji has been working with me for the past 4 years, I have done events in my own State and I had also done in Ondo State. So that Deji can take charge of EGBA YOUTH AWARDS in his own town.

so I told him to bring people together and that was what really brought Biola in,

if you ask them for the first edition of the Awards, it was Deji’s company name that we used to present it but sponsored and powered by my own company because it was 2 in 1 event, so to bring people along I had to convince popular music artiste Slimjoe, then he was the rave of the moment, to come to Abeokuta and do his music launching in Abeokuta since people are dying for him in Abeokuta, so we made the first EGBA YOUTH AWARDS as 2 in 1 event ,launching of SLIM JOE’S album and the Award

 The first one was tight, it was done at SKY PAVILION, so it was SLIMJOE’S 2 in 1 event presented by Dreamland Concept, Deji’s company and sponsored by the Signal Media Links, my own company, so after the first edition, the turnout was very mad .Biola was just like the stage M.c with Sunkanmi, who is out of the of the country now. so, its Biola and Sunkanmi that held the Red Carpet and the Stage because that was what Biola was known for when we were in school, M.c, anchoring programmes, so after the first edition I said Deji, I can’t continue again, you should have known how we do this thing and he said “ok brother, its better we do the 2^nd one and see how it goes”, so I started the second one again in 2010, we had the 2^nd one at DAKTAD, that was when Deji, Biola and I were still together, Abbey has already been with us, Yetunde was  like a family to us already.

Biodun Gbadebo is still part of the team till  date, so as time goes on we contacted Mojisola Oshindero for the second edition, you know, we consult people a lot, assuming we know someone that can help our dream in Abeokuta, we will come and meet you to know what you can do to support us, we’ll consult you to give us idea, that was what brought us to Moji and she said she doesn’t want to join the committee just to make contributions, then she contributed squarely in the second edition.

I am sure that people has been seeing me as the bad egg and what really happened is that, at the end of the first edition, I wanted to give it to Deji Falowo, so I’ve already dropped the ruling mantle to Deji Falowo but he took it with his own mentality, he boycotted other members. so Biola came to me and said ‘’brother, I don’t think I can work with Deji or carry on with the EGBA YOUTH AWARD because he’s not doing it right’ I now called Deji  to carry the team along as the head  but unfortunately for Deji, he started playing prank with us, and  he had already fixed  the date, that’s what brought me to Abeokuta to ask him if he was wiser than me that brought this thing to Abeokuta, that was why I collected it from Deji and we decided to do the 3^rd edition  now if you see the brochure of the 2^nd edition, you will see something below that says initiator and coordinator in my name, so the 3^rd edition misunderstanding started ensuing, people started calling Biola then Biola called me to drop it since I have dropped it before, I told him I was going to drop it for them. so I think the others started calling him that somebody that is not from Abeokuta ,how will he come and be ruling us,

I was the only one that is not from Abeokuta, so Biola started that attitude with me, so when Biola started I was like Biola that I groomed, I was surprised, so I started keeping so many things away from him to show him that I was superior to him, unfortunately they went to ALAKE OF EGBA LAND HRM OBA ADEDOTUN AREMU GBADEBO,  to blackmail me……………………
