HOW I STARTED MY PUBLISHING CAREER @23 - ADEBOLA AYEDUN SOLATE

PublicFaces Magazine publisher Adebola Ayedun-Solate is the youngest publisher in Ogun State, her magazine is popularly known as PublicFace Magazine, although she started publishing many years ago with a free newsletter publication popularly known as PublicEye but she has been able to carve a niche for herself among publishers in Ogun state. This pretty lady who can pass for a model is in her final year in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in the department of, Mass Communication,  she open up to Bunmi Mustapha on how she started her magazine and how she combine school with journalism.

For the benefit of our readers who will be reading about you for the first time, can you give us an insight into you background?
My name is Adebola Ayedun Solate from Sagamu Remo Ogun State, I was brought up in a Jehovah witness family, I started my primary education in Wesley school Ojumele Sagamu, preceded to Soyondo community high school, later to Moshod Abiola Polythecnic where I am studying Mass Communication.

How long have you been publishing PublicFaces and what inspired you into it?
I have been publishing since 2008, then it was PublicEye magazine, the magazine has been evolving and changing, and when we eventually registered it, we changed the name to PublicFaces magazine the zeal to gather and disseminate information inspired me into publishing.

What was the challenge you faced and how well are you accepted in society?
I faced a lot, challenges of funds, internet, advert and most importantly my age, people tend to take the publication as a Childs play because of my age and the fact that I am still a student. On acceptance, I thank God so far, because gradually, we are becoming a household name.


How do you combine your work with school?
It is about determination, presently my education is paramount, I go to school everyday and come back to the office in the afternoon, but I have been able to learn the attribute of perseverance whenever my production time clashes with school exam.

How does been the youngest female publisher makes you feel?
I feel elated, but being the youngest female publisher is actually a challenge for me, because to whom much is given much is expected.

Who are your role models in the profession?
Mr Dada Olanipekun of Prestige News Paper, Dr. Seye Kehinde of City People Magazine, Dele Momodu Of Ovation International, Betty Irabor Of Geneveive Magazine..
