LASSA Fever: – 19 Suspected Cases In Ogun….Tested Negative

Ogun State Government says that the 19 suspected cases of lassa fever under surveillance, have been confirmed to be negative after series of medical examination.The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, disclosed this at a press conference yesterday held at Governor’s Office Press Center, Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta.Ipaye said the 19 suspected cases have been under close monitoring even after series of tests have confirmed them to be negative, adding that presently there is no case of Lassa fever reported as at the time of the press conference.He urged members of the public to stop the act of spreading or drying food items on the ground and maintain personal hygiene.       The Commissioner called on the public not to panic, but  quickly report symptoms like body pains, chest pain, cough, abdominal pain, bleeding from the nose, mouth and the gum, to the nearest General Hospital or call the following hot lines for LASSA NOTIFICATION, 09099140121,09099140122 or alert the State Epidemiologist  on 08033591033 and 08034214893.       Dr. Ipaye said all health workers have been put on red alert across the 20 Local Government Areas, adding that Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, State Hospital, Abeokuta and General Hospital, Iberekodo have been set aside as isolation centers in case of any outbreak.
